Your First Session at Trinity: What Actually Happens

Walk through exactly what to expect when you book your first session at Trinity Training West Covina — from the call to the floor walk to the first program.

Most gyms hand you a clipboard, walk you through 20 minutes of treadmills, then pitch you on a 12-month contract. Trinity is different — there's no membership desk, no contract to sign. Here's what actually happens when you book your first session.

Before you arrive

You'll set up your first session directly by phone or email — what to wear (anything you can move in), and a short conversation up front about your goals, any injuries or surgeries, training history, and schedule. We want that conversation started before you get here so your first hour isn't spent on paperwork.

Check-in

Your trainer meets you at the door. No front desk line, no keycard hunt — just a real person who already knows why you're there.

The floor walk

You'll see the 7,000 sq ft floor — elite strength & conditioning equipment, a boxing & striking area, functional turf, and the cardio & conditioning zone. Ask everything. This is your time.

The movement screen

Your trainer will typically run a basic movement screen — squat pattern, overhead reach, single-leg balance, hip mobility. Not a max test. They're looking for asymmetries and limitations that your first program needs to address.

The conversation

You'll sit down with your trainer and walk through what your first few weeks would look like and what cadence makes sense for your schedule and budget. No pressure to commit that day.

If you're nervous about walking in — read this

Most people who book a first session haven't set foot in a serious gym in years, and they're quietly worried they'll be the least fit person on the floor. Here's the truth: nobody at Trinity is looking at you. The whole point of a private training facility is that you're working with your own coach in your own lane, not performing for a room. You don't need to "get in shape first." Showing up not knowing is the normal starting line — that's literally what the trainer is for.

How to book — and what happens next

Call 626-430-7695 or use the contact page to set up your first session. You'll pick a window that fits your schedule, confirm by email or text, and show up ready to move. After your visit, you decide on your own time — no follow-up pressure campaign. Prefer to see the space first? The What Is Trinity page and the trainer roster will give you the lay of the land before you come in.

What you won't experience

  • A 12-month contract pitch
  • Supplement upsells
  • "This deal expires today" pressure tactics
  • Being passed off to a sales manager who has never trained anyone

Ask your trainer directly — many Trinity trainers offer a complimentary first conversation before you commit to a package. Terms are set trainer-to-trainer since each one runs their own book.

  2. 02 How long does the first session take?

Plan for about an hour: check-in, a floor walk, an optional movement screen, and a conversation about your goals and schedule.

  3. 03 Do I need to bring anything?

Athletic clothes, sneakers, and a water bottle if you want one. That's it.
