Who it's for

Built for the people who actually train.

  • Lifters who want visible change, not just better numbers
  • First-time competitors preparing for stage
  • Clients chasing body recomp — leaner + stronger simultaneously
  • Lifestyle clients who want a build that lasts

What to expect

Training, programmed.

01

Volume programmed with intent

Every set has a target — failure, RPE 8, mechanical tension, metabolic stress. No junk volume.

02

Progressive failure protocols

Drop sets, rest-pause, eccentric overload — the techniques bodybuilders have used for decades, programmed correctly so they actually drive growth.

03

Nutrition training that pairs

Calories, protein, peri-workout fueling. Several Trinity trainers hold PN1 — or pair you with a nutrition specialist on the team.

04

Photo + measurement tracking

Weekly check-ins. We look at the work, not just the scale. If it's not changing, the program adjusts.

How hypertrophy is programmed here

Bodybuilding at Trinity is volume with a plan. Your trainer sets a weekly set target per muscle group, splits it across the week — push/pull/legs, upper/lower, or a body-part split depending on how many days you train — and picks movements that load the muscle through its full range rather than the ones that just feel hard. Every set has a rep target and a proximity-to-failure target, so 'hard' means something specific. Deload weeks are built in before you need them.

The first four weeks

Expect to spend the first block learning to feel the muscle you are training. That sounds soft; it is the difference between a set of rows that hits your lats and one that hits your biceps and low back. Loads climb once execution is clean. Your trainer will also want a rough picture of your food from day one — training volume without adequate protein and calories is wasted volume, and the nutrition trainers on the roster are one referral away.

How progress is measured

Progress photos every four to six weeks in the same light, tape measurements where it matters for your goal, and the training log — more reps at the same load, or more load at the same reps, on the same movement. Scale weight is tracked but read in context. The Floor's Panatta, Atlantis, Newtech and Booty Builder lines give your trainer machine variety that a rack-only gym cannot, which matters when the goal is to isolate and overload a specific muscle.

Where they train

The Floor.

Strength & conditioning. Panatta, Atlantis, Newtech, Booty Builder.

The heart of a 7,000-square-foot private training facility in West Covina. The Floor runs on four serious strength lines — Panatta, the Italian hand-built plate-loaded and selectorized equipment the pros train on; Atlantis and Newtech strength stations; and Booty Builder glute equipment — alongside free weights, racks, and open floor space. Not a big-box knockoff in the building. No waiting on a rack, no crowd around the dumbbells, and no one on the floor who isn’t here to work.

In the room

  • Panatta plate-loaded + selectorized strength machines (Italy)
  • Atlantis strength stations
  • Newtech strength equipment
  • Booty Builder glute machines
  • Power racks + Olympic bars and plates
  • Full dumbbell run

  1. 01 Do I have to compete to work with a bodybuilding trainer?

No. The majority of physique-focused Trinity clients never step on a stage — they want their training to actually show up visually. Trainers program for that goal whether or not there's a competition date.

  2. 02 How long does it take to see real physique change?

Newer lifters see meaningful change in 12 weeks. Experienced lifters track in 16–24-week cycles. Bodybuilding is a multi-year game — trainers who promise faster are lying to you.

  3. 03 Will I get too bulky if I train like a bodybuilder?

No. Visible muscle requires years of intentional training and eating. You will get stronger, leaner, and more athletic long before you ever look "too built" — and you control the dial.

  4. 04 Do bodybuilding trainers at Trinity handle nutrition?

Most do, at the level you need — macros, meal timing, peri-workout. For competitive prep or medical-history cases, you'll get referred to a specialist or work with a separate nutrition trainer on the team.

  5. 05 Can I do bodybuilding and still play sports or stay athletic?

Yes — and you should. The "bodybuilder who can't move" stereotype is what bad programming produces. Trinity trainers build physiques inside athletic movement, not at its expense.

  6. 06 Which room do bodybuilding sessions use?

The Floor — the strength room with four machine lines (Panatta, Atlantis, Newtech, Booty Builder) alongside free weights, which is exactly what hypertrophy programming needs for isolation and overload.

  7. 07 Do bodybuilding trainers help with contest prep?

Yes, for clients who want to compete: peak-week planning, posing practice and the diet phase, coordinated with a nutrition trainer. Most clients never compete and simply want the physique work — both are welcome.

  8. 08 Who are the Bodybuilding trainers at Trinity Training West Covina?

Trinity's Bodybuilding trainers in West Covina are Robert Ramirez, Ryan Leong, Jose Valdivia, David calzada, Celeste Gonzalez and Andrea Marin — plus 27 more on the full roster. Each is an independent, certified trainer working out of Trinity's private facility at 1705 W Garvey Ave N; you book directly with the trainer you choose.
